ABOUT THE DOCTOR:

Dr. Shah has been Board Certified in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation since 1978 with a
subspecialty in Electrodiagnostic Medicine, Pain Management - Acute & Chronic. A fellow in
Disability Evaluation, and practicing since 1974, she is a graduate of Topiwala National Medical
College, University of Bombay, India. She held the position of House Officer at New Mulago
Hospital in Kampala, Uganda and Medical Officer for the City Council of Nairobi, Kenya. Her
internship was at the New York Infirmary with residencies including the Veteran's Administration
Hospital in Bronx, NY; Rotation at Sloan Kettering Hospital for Cancer Rehabilitation and Hospital
of Special Surgery; and New York Hospital at Cornell University Medical College, New York, NY.
Dr. Shah's past appointments included Assistant Professor, University of South Florida;
Chairperson, Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Tampa General Hospital; and
Assistant Professor, Cornell University Medical College. She is Board Certified by the American
Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, American Association of Electrodiagnostic
Medicine, American Board of Pain Medicine, and Fellow of the American Association of Disability
Evaluating Physicians.
She has extensive experience in the treatment of myofacial pain, has been the medical director of
physical medicine and rehabilitation at various hospitals, and was featured as one of the best
doctors in physical medicine and rehabilitation in the year 2000. Dr. Shah also is the 2004-2005
president of the Florida Association of Physicians of Indian Origin (FAPI) which is an organization
made up of over 450 physicians from the Tampa Bay area. Through FAPI, Dr. Shah is involved in
many community and charity events and is responsible for planning several continuing medical
education programs throughout the year.
